Brief Biography
I received the BSc in Computer Science from the
Department of Computer Science at Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE), Brazil, in 1988
and the degree of Master of Science from the same department in
1991. During my MSc I worked on the development of a
probabilistic model based on the theory of
Markov chains for the analysis
of the error recovery property of feedback RAM-networks. After
that, I started a PhD at the Electronic Engineering Laboratories,
University of Kent at Canterbury in the UK (concluded in July 1995),
this time changing my interests to the investigation of
continuous neural networks such as the Multilayer Perceptron and
Radial Basis Function Networks in the context of pattern
recognition applications. I am currently a lecturer at
the Department of Computer Science - UFPE working in the areas of
neural networks, pattern recognition, image processing, decision support systems
and data mining.
Here are some of my projects
and publications.
