- The Creation of World Class Companies in Brazil: the Setting Up and Operation of a Distributed and Networked Enterprise Generation Programme
This presentation will describe a Brazilian project developed to support the creation of new software and information technology firms through the establishment of enterprise generation centres in several states of the country. Each centre is formed by a consortium of organisations, including well established companies, which supports and finances the creation of new firms. At the national level, the centres operate as a network sharing and exchanging resources, services and experiences. The objective of the centres is to create enterprises that can compete and succeed in the global market. This success depends a great deal on the existence of business partnerships among firms at local, national and international level. This presentation will address the conference theme by showing how the enterprise generation centres stimulate the establishment of such partnerships for their enterprises at three levels: (1) locally, by stimulating the interaction and sinergy among the firms hosted in each centre; (2) nationally, by exchanging information among the centres through events and a national information system based on the Internet; (3) internationally, by constructing links with similar efforts in other countries and therefore facilitating the interaction of the firms in Brazil with enterprises being created in those projects.
