SOMA.EXE is a Windows version of Som-A for PC. In order to run Som-A copy the entire "Soma" directory from the CDROM onto your HD. When using Soma.exe for the first time, you must select File -> Define Work Directories in order to set the paths and the directories for Soma.exe, Charts, and Signals. For example, if you copied the Soma directory onto the root of drive C: then you should specify the directories as follows (you can ignore STR and VOC for the moment): WSOM-A = c:\soma\ CAR = c:\soma\charts\ WAV = c:\soma\signals\ Then click OK and the system will create a file called Soma.cfg. Som-A displays the waveforms as the samples are generated. If your computer has a SoundBlaster card, then it is possible to interrupt and play the sound without halting the synthesis process.
