Travel Information To get to Porto de Galinhas, the nearest airport is the Recife International Airport, located in Recife, Pernambuco. Currently, there are direct flights (flights where it is not necessary to change planes) to Recife departing from Europe, more specifically from Libson, and the US, departing from Miami (see below). The former is operated by TAP, flight TP0151, whereas the latter is operated by American Airlines, flight AA980. The latter stops in Salvador (in Brazil) before getting to Recife, but it is not necessary to change planes. Recife is one of the major hubs in northeastern Brazil. There are direct flights to Recife from most of the major Brazilian capitals, including Salvador, Fortaleza, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Belo Horizonte. In addition, there are direct flights from the major hubs in Europe and the US to these capitals. This means that, in most cases, it is possible to reach Recife from both Europe and the US (departing from these major hubs) only changing planes once. Be careful to book in advance in order to get the best fees. The conference organization will provide transfers from Recife International Airport to the conference hotel in Porto de Galinhas based on the most common flight arrival times. Attendees can also arrange for a transfer locally (at their expense).

As mentioned before, there are other flights from US and Europeans major cities to other Brazilian hubs with nonstop flights to Recife, such as Salvador (1h from Recife), Brasilia (2hs from Recife), Rio de Janeiro (2.5hs from Recife), and São Paulo (3hs from Recife)
Nationals from some countries, such as the USA and Canada, need to obtain an Entry Visa prior to traveling to Brazil. It is important to note that, in general, nationals from countries that are members of the European Union do not need a visa to enter Brazil for less than 90 days. Check if you need a visa to travel to Brazil here. U.S. passport holders need a tourist visa for attending AOSD (an extra fee will be charged to attend a conference).
