My name is Matheus Farias, I'm from Recife (Brazil), and I'm a 24-year-old Electrical Engineering PhD student at Harvard University advised by Prof. H. T. Kung. I'm especially interested in developing novel solutions for real-life problems using interdisciplinary engineering approaches, mainly combining machine learning, internet of things and hardware design.
I'm graduated with a valedictorian BS degree on Electronics Engineering from Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE). During my time at UFPE, I have worked at four different labs under five distinct faculties. This diverse experience gave me a unique perspective of multidisciplinary research and collaborative efforts as I tuned myself to work effectively on different research lines and environments. From past competitions I received 4 international awards, and some other nationals.
I have a rock band called Matucana where I play the keyboards and we are finishing our first album (I expect to release it soon). I was almost a professional badminton player, collecting more than 10 medals, from state tournaments to University Games.
